Since breaking into the Chelsea first squad three years ago, Mason Mount has been an important player for both club and country.
Following England’s terrible run of performances, many have urged for the Chelsea midfielder to be demoted from the starting lineup.
After losing to Hungary, the Three Lions drew with Germany and Italy, scoring one goal each time.
Mount’s England berth had already been urged to be handed to someone else by Chris Sutton, and Gareth Southgate succumbed to the pressure by leaving Mount out of Hungary’s visit to the Molineux Stadium.
Mount came on in the second half as Hungary defeated England 4-0.
Mason Mount, on the other hand, should remain a crucial player for the Three Lions, according to Murphy.
“Has Mount had opportunities in the previous two of games?” Murphy said on talkSPORT. Yeah. He’s made terrific runs into wonderful situations; you just get the idea he’s waiting for things to go right for him and the goal will appear out of nowhere.
“I have the same feeling about him.” I believe he is of high caliber. He puts himself in some incredible situations.”
