Manchester City just recently announced the signing of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, but there is already talk that his stay at the Etihad Stadium would be brief.
Even if there has been serious interest from Real Madrid, Romano has sought to clear the air, stating that there is no release clause slated to become active in Haaland’s contract in the future.
While Haaland was at Dortmund, the Spanish giants conducted negotiations with him, and Romano says a potential move to La Liga isn’t out of the question.
“I’m sure Real Madrid negotiated for Haaland,” Romano claims.
“There were several meetings for Erling to join Real Madrid, but it was the player, not Real Madrid, who turned down Haaland.
“Spain is an option for his future, but any stories concerning talks or release terms are inaccurate at this time.”
This will come as a comfort to City supporters, who will no doubt want to see their club develop into a destination for quality players on par with Real Madrid and Barcelona, rather than merely a stepping stone to Spain’s big two.
