Real Madrid star Marcelo gets honored by Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, a Manchester United superstar, has paid respect to Marcelo, a former Real Madrid colleague.

Marcelo’s Real Madrid tenure has come to an end with the club’s announcement of his exit.

At Real Madrid, the Brazilian won five Champions League titles, four of which he shared with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Off the field, the two are good friends, with Marcelo complimenting Ronaldo on his goalscoring heroics for United on social media earlier this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo offers Marcelo an homage.
“More than a teammate, a brother that football has given me,” Ronaldo wrote. One of the top talents with whom I had the privilege of sharing a locker room both on and off the field. Marcelo, I wish you the best of luck on your new adventure!”

During his career at Real Madrid, Marcelo won a total of 25 titles.

The 34-year-old has no intentions to retire and will take some time to decide where he will sign next.

Manchester United are said to have no intentions to bring him in to bolster their left-back position, but they could do a lot worse…
“I didn’t want to remain for another year or two out of sympathy,” the Brazilian left-back told BBC Sport.

“I’ll always love Real Madrid, and together we’ve chosen to walk out on top, through the front door.”

“I don’t think I’m a legend.” Life does not come to an end here. I’m going to play some more. I think I’ll be able to continue, but I’m not planning forward.”

Marcelo joined Real Madrid from Fluminense in 2007 and has since gone on to become one of the club’s most successful players.

In the recent Champions League final, he was an unused replacement, with Ferland Mendy starting at left-back.
