PABLO TORRE ADMITS TO Rejecting Luxurious OFFER FROM REAL MADRID FOR BARCELONA.
Pablo Torre, a Spanish prodigy who just joined Barcelona, has disclosed that he turned down a more lucrative offer from Real Madrid.
In an interview with Adri Contreras (h/t Mundo Deportivo), soon-to-be Barcelona star Pablo Torre admits to turning down a chance to join Real Madrid in favor of the Catalans, despite the Merengues making a better offer.
Pablo Torre is widely considered as one of Spain’s most promising young players. The 19-year-old offensive midfielder rose through the ranks at Racing Santander and has established himself as a crucial first-team member in the last two seasons.
Following his debut season in 2020/21, the youngster further improved his skills in the previous campaign, scoring ten goals and providing ten assists to help Racing Santander secure promotion to La Liga 2.
Barcelona completed the acquisition of Torre, a 19-year-old prodigy, in March of this year, beating arch-rivals Real Madrid to his signature.
Torre has spoken up about his choice to join Barcelona over Real Madrid, revealing that the Catalans’ first-team manager, Xavi Hernandez, spoke to him through video chat and persuaded him to join the Blaugrana. Real Madrid had allegedly offered him’more money,’ according to the 19-year-old. He, on the other hand, had his heart set on relocating to Barcelona.
“It was quick. Because he called Mateu Alemany, my agent informed me. When they informed me that I had a video conference with Xavi, I was focused on the National Team in Las Rozas. Torre remarked, “He outlined the project to me.”
“I chatted with Madrid, but my ultimate goal was to play and achieve at Barça.” Madrid offered more money, but the most important thing to me was the opportunity to play in the Camp Nou and, more importantly, the sports project that it provided. It was obvious to me from the moment he phoned me,” the Spanish youth international continued.
When the transfer market opens next month, Pablo Torre is anticipated to join Barcelona. Xavi holds the 19-year-old in high respect and will give him an opportunity to earn a berth in the first squad during the pre-season.
