Michael Owen retweets Messi tweet in support of Liverpool’s Champions League bid

Following his declaration that Liverpool were the “greatest team in Europe” before of the Champions League final, Michael Owen has retaliated by turning to Lionel Messi for assistance.

The Reds were defeated 1-0 by Real Madrid in Paris, with supporters mocking the former Liverpool and Manchester United striker after stating Jurgen Klopp’s team was the greatest in Europe.

“Real Madrid went over them today,” Owen told BT Sport. “But you know as well as anybody that a one-off game is a one-off game.”

“I still believe [Liverpool] is Europe’s most formidable team, and the fact that they don’t have either of the major two titles to show for it will be the hardest pill to take.”

Owen retaliated to his critics by posting remarks from Messi on his social media account. The PSG star, like Owen, feels that the greatest team did not win the Champions League this season.
Messi shares this viewpoint.
Messi observed, “The greatest team doesn’t always win.” “Without taking anything away from Real Madrid, they were not the greatest team in Europe this season, even if they won the Champions League.”

Owen also added a quote-tweet in his response, which read: “And I was mocked for saying it. Enough is enough “..

Simon Jordan, a TalkSPORT analyst, reiterated Owen’s thoughts, claiming that the outcome of one game isn’t enough to convince him that Liverpool is the superior side.

Jordan commented on talkSPORT, “I believe they’re ferocious, they’re electric, they’re nearly undeniable.” “I don’t care about individual games; Liverpool are a better team than Real Madrid.” Chelsea defeated Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals when it was widely assumed that Barcelona was the superior team. A team’s performance does not imply that an individual’s performance is superior.

“I believe Liverpool is a superior team in every way, from goalie to center forward. They’re more ferocious, more aggressive, and easier to look at.”
