“It’s finished” for Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford as agent looks for new club
According to rumours, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is looking for a new club for the Manchester United attacker.
Last season, the 37-year-old was United’s top scorer, but the club’s inability to qualify for the Champions League has sparked doubts about his future.
According to the Italian tabloid La Repubblica(opens in new tab), Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford has come to an end, and he is seeking a new club.
New manager Erik ten Hag’s style of play seems unsuitable for Ronaldo, who has been linked with a stunning move to Roma, where he would reconnect with his old Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.
Jorge Mendes, the agent, has an excellent working connection with the capital club, and a favorable tax structure would be a plus.
However, given Roma’s Financial Fair Play concerns, Ronaldo’s €23 million per year net pay demands, and the fact that the Giallorossi cannot promise him Champions League play, such a move appears exceedingly improbable.
The report also suggests a return to Sporting CP, as the Lisbon club will be in the Champions League group stages next season.
Before returning to United last summer, Ronaldo spent three years with Juventus in Italy.
During his time at Turin, he won two Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia, as well as one Golden Boot and two Player of the Year accolades.
