Aurelien Tchouameni claims Real Madrid did not win the contest to recruit him for €100 million, allowing Liverpool to re-enter the competition.
The 22-year-old is one of the finest midfielders in the world, and a transfer to Liverpool or Real Madrid would elevate his game even more.
With Madrid won the Champions League final in Paris last month, joining either club will revolutionize his reputation and thrust him into the race to be Europe’s best club.
Liverpool have gone a long way under Jurgen Klopp, but the German has failed to overcome Los Blancos on four occasions.
Tchouameni’s signing would be another triumph for the Spanish team against Liverpool, although the player himself claims he has yet to make a decision on his future.
When asked if he had made up his mind on which club he would join if he left AS Monaco, he answered French newscaster Telefoot, “No, not yet.”
Despite Tchouameni’s claims that he hasn’t decided between Liverpool and Real Madrid, Telefoot says that the La Liga has received confirmation from the midfielder that he wants to join them this summer.
“I’m not worried about the rumors since it’s a job I’ve always wanted,” he stated.
“As long as the top clubs are following me, I’m doing something right.”
Monaco is reportedly requesting €100 million for Tchouameni, putting Liverpool at a significant disadvantage considering Madrid’s enormous financial clout.
