‘I warned him not to join Chelsea’ – Radja Nainggolan reveals

Former Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan has revealed he warned his countryman Romelu Lukaku against a move to Chelsea.

Lukaku was the main man at Inter Milan and Chelsea paid a club-record £97.5m for his signing.

After an initial run of form, the Belgian has been struggling in a Chelsea shirt, and is no longer a regular in the starting line-up.

Nainggolan who rejected a move to Chelsea some years ago, has revealed how he tried to talk Lukaku out of a move to Chelsea.

“I told him that he made the wrong choice in leaving Inter,” Radja Nainggolan said according to RTBF.

“He was the king there. He was perhaps the best striker in the world. But he couldn’t say no to the club of his heart.

“This is the third time he’s gone to Chelsea; this is the third time it didn’t work out.

“He says the team was built around him, but the system wasn’t working. So the coach opted for other players, smaller in size, who run a lot. And the results followed.”
