‘He’s a great passer of the ball,’ says Michael Owen on Chelsea’s top target

Declan Rice, the West Ham midfielder, has awed Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.

Rice is one of the most wanted players in the Premier League, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United all showing interest.

Rice has been compared to ex-teammate Steven Gerrard by Liverpool veteran Michael Owen, who admits that his passing ability is exceptional.

“[Rice] does show hints of a Steven Gerrard, large, powerful, lengthy action, a wonderful distributor of the ball,” Owen stated, listing some of his attributes and what makes Rice a good player.

“He’s no longer merely a center midfielder.” He breaks up the game so beautifully, and now he’s opening up and incorporating those long runs into his game, transforming himself into an all-around player.”
