Kylian Mbappe’s decision to reject a transfer to Real Madrid and instead sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain has been supported by Roma icon Francesco Totti.
With Real Madrid long-time fans, Mbappe was largely anticipated to depart France’s capital for that of Spain this summer. They even wanted to sign him in 2021 for a nine-figure fee, but PSG turned them down.
With his contract at Parc des Princes about to expire at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, Mbappe stunned the world by agreeing to a lucrative three-year agreement with PSG, and Real Madrid was upset with the 23-year-handling old’s of the situation, believing he was on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu.
In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Totti, one of football’s greatest one-club players after spending his entire career with childhood club Roma, backed Mbappe’s decision to stay in his hometown.
“For me, it’s a heartfelt decision, regardless of who chooses to stay. He, like all the major champions, should be controlled and safeguarded. He won’t be able to find a better team than PSG “Totti said.
