After collecting the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award, Cristiano Ronaldo issued a heartfelt letter to the supporters.
Manchester United had a difficult season in 2021/22. Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were unable to elicit the desired response from this group.
Our players’ unhappiness was heightened when they dropped their tools far earlier than they should have. They must have made their sentiments about the man in the dugout known. Let’s hope Erik ten Hag doesn’t end up in the same boat.
One guy, Cristiano Ronaldo, carried us on his back for big swaths of the season.
Bringing the GOAT back to the Theatre of Dreams is still unreal, with Ronaldo delivering the goods on his own, especially towards the close of the season.
It’s no surprise, then, that Ronaldo won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award in his first season back. He genuinely is a one-of-a-kind individual.
Regardless, Ronaldo rushed to Instagram immediately after receiving the award to give an emotional message to his followers.
It’s good to see Ronnie send out a short statement that comes straight from the heart after being elected the winner of this award by the fans.
It also gives me the feeling that Ronaldo has no plans to leave this summer, which is great news for Ten Hag. Ronaldo will provide goals galore in any system, giving the Dutchman a focal point around whom he can construct his squad.
I just think it’s incredible that Ronaldo is still producing at such a high level at the age of 37. It’s incredible how well he’s taken care of his body over time. He is currently experiencing the benefits of his efforts.
It’s up to United to find Ronaldo some capable colleagues who can assist the club return to its former glory. I still have trust in a sizable chunk of the locker room, albeit a trophy next year would be nice.
Ronnie, I congratulate you!
