Chelsea fancied to sign Jules Kounde amid Barcelona interest

The Blues had a failed opportunity to sign the Frenchman last summer, but they are willing to give it another go this time around.

The central defender and Chelsea have already reached a personal agreement on the parameters of a five-year deal, according to the Spanish magazine Marca.

Additionally, Sevilla is awaiting the completion of a $52 million transfer agreement for the 23-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Barcelona has also been linked to the Bordeaux graduate, but Sevilla prefers to strengthen their league rivals by selling Kounde outside.

In light of this, it is said that “all roads lead to Chelsea.” In contrast to Barcelona, who are having financial difficulties, they could pay the whole sum up advance.
Our opinion: Following surgery for a pelvic issue, Kounde was hotly tipped to join Chelsea at the beginning of June. However, the rumors have since subsided.
Given that the LaLiga team has said that he would be ready for the upcoming season, this may not provide a transfer obstacle.

A formal offer for Kounde is likely to be made shortly, just as Chelsea previously acquired Ben Chilwell from Leicester City when he was recovering from a foot ailment.

The Frenchman would fit wonderfully on the right side of Chelsea’s back three because he often plays as the right-sided central defender for Sevilla.

Andreas Christensen, whose contract ends at the end of the month and will depart the team on a free transfer, may be replaced by him.

Following his move to Real Madrid, Antonio Rudiger may need to be replaced on the left side of the back three by Thomas Tuchel’s team.

They could be keeping an eye on a seasoned player. Stefan de Vrij of Inter Milan, who has qualities comparable to Rudiger’s, would be a good low-cost choice for Chelsea.
