Despite Mason Mount’s mistake in the FA Cup final penalty shootout loss to Liverpool, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has thrown his weight behind him.

Mount’s Chelsea contract expires in two years, and Tuchel has revealed that the club’s aim now is to re-sign him.

Mount has been an important member of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, and Tuchel feels that a penalty miss will not change that.

“The penalty will not influence my opinion on Mason,” Tuchel stated. Given his track record and the importance of the game that he continuously plays for us, he is an important member of our group and club.

“We don’t start doubting him now because he misses a penalty,” says the coach.
