Bale on next move after leaving Real Madrid: ‘I have alternatives.’
Gareth Bale has brushed off rumors of a shock transfer to Getafe in Spain’s La Liga, admitting that he will make a decision on his future later this summer.
The former Real Madrid player is presently on international duty with Wales and will take a break following the UEFA Nations League match against the Netherlands in Rotterdam on Tuesday night. Bale, who helped Wales qualify for their first FIFA World Cup in 64 years, is a free agent after his nine-year tenure at Real Madrid came to an end.
“I’ve got choices,” the 32-year-old winger remarked. “It’s simply a matter of me deciding where to go and what is best for my children and family. I’m hoping to make a decision during the summer.”
Bale has been connected with Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Cardiff City, in addition to Getafe. Last week, Wales manager Rob Page stated that it is critical for Bale, who only played in seven games last season, to play week in and week out in preparation for the World Cup in Qatar this autumn.
“I need to sit down and go over – not only with my family, but with the manager here (Robert Page), with the physios here that we employ,” Bale stated. “I don’t think I’ll ever lose my ball-handling skills. I suppose it’s a topic for discussion. That’ll have to do for the summer.”
